PlayStation 4 allows you to keep a tab on all sorts of activity, including message alerts, a friend request, earning a trophy and more.

Interestingly, with just a little tweak in the system's notifications, you can limit the notifications that you receive, customize their appearance or even see them all at once. Here's how you can do it.

Here's how to check your PS4 notifications

Whenever you receive a notification on your PS4, an alert pops up in the corner of the screen. It is set as default for your convenience so that you see the information at a glance, without leaving what you're doing.

However, if you want to see more details about the notification, you just need to press the 'PlayStation' button given on your controller while the notification pop-up is still there on the screen. Doing this will redirect or take you to the relevant notifications' separate screen.

Once done, you just need to press the 'circle' button to return to your previous screen.

Meanwhile, to check all your notifications (current and historical) at once, you'll need to navigate up from the home screen and select the 'Notifications' option where you'll see a list of all your notifications.

While scrolling through them, you can press the 'cross' button to view details and the 'triangle button' to delete any particular notification.

Here's how to customize your PS4 notifications

Customizing your PS4 notifications means you can change their colour, appearance and even limit the notifications that you want to receive.

Step 1: Head to the home screen on your PS4.

Step 2: Navigate up, select the 'Settings' option. Then, select the option 'Notifications'.

A menu will appear with five options:

Pop-Up Notifications

You can choose this option to regulate what type of event you wish to receive a notification for, including messages, friend requests etc.

However, if you wish to disable notifications altogether, select the 'Display Pop-Up Notifications' option to uncheck the box. You'll find this option given at the top of your screen. You can even go through every single event as per your liking to enable/disable the notification.

Disable pop-ups while playing video

Many users use PS4 to watch videos of gameplay etc. Choose this option so that notifications don't interrupt your viewing experience.

Pop-up colour

Select this option to change the pop-up colour of your notification to white or black.

Display message in notification

By selecting this option, you can ensure that you don't leave what you're doing to read the message in the notification.

Notifications when your friends go online

With this option, you can select which friends you wish to be notified about when they come online. Just choose and select the 'confirm' option.
